Temporal bone histopathology in schwannoma
Nam Sung-Il

Abstract
A schwannoma is a benign nerve sheath tumor arising from the Schwann cells. Schwannomas can be associated with neurofibromatosis type 2, which may be due to mutations in the NF2 tumor suppressor gene located on chromosome 22q. Most common of these is a vestibular schwannoma, a tumor of the vestibulocochlear nerve that may lead to tinnitus and hearing loss on the affected side. Verocay bodies are seen histologically in schwannomas. In this paper, this author reviewed the histopathological findings of schwannomas.
